Bradmark
Announces the General Availability
of NORAD for DB2 UDB
HOUSTON — July
31, 2003 — Bradmark Technologies, Inc. an
established provider of enterprise monitoring and database
administration tools, today announces the General Availability
of its NORAD® suite for IBM’s DB2 Universal Database
(DB2 UDB). This significant release represents the culmination
of two years intensive effort by Bradmark’s in-house
development team.
NORAD is
a fully integrated suite of tools designed to help
the DBA monitor and maintain a single relational database
environment or an enterprise of hundreds of disparate
servers and databases. NORAD is the most comprehensive
product suite on the market for maintaining database
and system availability. “ The acceptance of
IBM’s DB2 UDB database is growing extremely rapidly
and this announcement positions Bradmark to take advantage
of this marketplace,” stated Steve Hayward, Vice
President of Bradmark’s R&D team, “We
are very proud of the results of the past two years
development effort.”
The new release NORAD version 2.00.09 consists of DBControl for DB2
UDB and NORAD Surveillance DB for DB2 UDB.
NORAD® DBControl™ allows DBAs to manage and control their databases.
By speeding up and simplifying routine tasks, this powerful tool reduces errors
and increases productivity. NORAD DBControl for DB2 UDB allows
a DBA to easily manipulate the structure of large DB2 tables (e.g., drop columns,
reorder columns). For very large tables, options are provided to set commit
intervals, or utilize the DB2 Load facility. For enterprises where sites are
dispersed around the world, NORAD DBControl contains an enhanced schema evolution
functionality that allows users to propagate schema changes on multiple-objects
to many different databases. This very powerful feature facilitates coordination
of schema changes from a central location or allows each local administrator
to perform the job.
NORAD® Surveillance™ DB is
another component of Bradmark’s NORAD suite of high availability
products. It is a real-time monitoring tool capable of overseeing
the entire database environment. With NORAD Surveillance DB,
a database administrator can monitor Bufferpool Statistics,
Lock Activity, Application Resource Utilization, SQL Statement
Activity, Tablespace Capacity Utilization, Table I/O rates
and more. Additionally, the DB2Diag.log file and Archive log
can be scanned for error conditions. The operational monitoring
capabilities can be used to generate alerts when critical situations
arise, such as Blocked Applications or Databases that have
gone down. Real-time performance views can be used to diagnose
current activity in the database without writing custom scripts.
NORAD
Surveillance DB and NORAD DBControl support DB2 UDB versions
7.2 and 8.1, and are available direct from Bradmark Technologies
or through its worldwide network of distributors.
With the availability of NORAD for DB2 UDB, Bradmark now supports all of the
main database environments, including Oracle, Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server.
